The problem Statement: Despite various estimates that have been made about the effective strategies in creating natural light and visual comfort in the structure of traditional Iranian houses, a precise quantitative evaluation of their efficiency and quality has not been determined. Main question: What strategies were used in Qajar architecture to make the most use of natural daylight and how much was this important in traditional residential buildings of Tehran city due to the fluctuation of radiation intensity and the possibility of glare? Objective: This research aims to investigate and identify the effective strategies on the desirability of benefiting from natural daylight and visual comfort in traditional houses of Qajar period in Oudlajan neighborhood of Tehran. Research method: The present paper is based on a quantitative paradigm and a simulation strategy that uses Rhino software and evidence derived from reading the physical structure of traditional houses of Tehran city in Qajar period by non-random sampling for its calculations. Conclusion: The results showed that the daylight autonomy of the space in the majority of the rooms under study was at an acceptable level (more than 50%) and therefore these rooms were well lit by natural light. In addition, the comparison of the data of these analyses shows that the ratio used in the light-receiving surfaces was about 19.20% of the floor area of the room and the dominant direction of the light-receiving was from the south front. Also, all the rooms are in the acceptable level of glare probability mentioned in the lighting standards. Manuscript profile

Society is constantly undergoing changes influenced by various factors, which impact all aspects of life, including culture. Consequently, when changes occur, adaptation and coordination become necessary. The architectural landscape in Iran, with its long history and remarkable works, has been rapidly and multi-dimensionally shaped by the developments of the 20th century. This has sometimes led to conflicts between the past and the desired future, resulting in periods of confusion regarding the direction of progress. The paper aims to investigate the effective components in the formation of contemporary Iranian architecture based on social changes. The research methodology employed in this study is qualitative and follows an analytical-historical approach. Content analysis consists of three stages: preparation and organization, examination of materials and messages, and data processing and conclusion drawing. These stages are conducted using MAXQDA software. Additionally, graphical representations are generated based on the research components. Gafi stands out as one of the notable programs in this regard. The results indicate that social changes over time have significantly influenced the evolution of contemporary architecture in Iran. Factors such as political, economic, cultural, climatic and environmental consideration have distinctly shaped contemporary Iranian architecture during different historical periods.
Manuscript profile

In this context, preserving and maintaining cultural heritage, especially historical buildings, embodying a civilization's identity and culture, play a pivotal role in sustainable urban development. This research aims to examine the role of urban management in enhancing the quality of historical building maintenance in the metropolis of Tehran. This research is correlational and involved gathering data from 373 employees and managers of the Tehran Municipality to examine the relationship between urban management variables and the quality of historical building maintenance. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) and the SmartPLS software. The findings revealed a significant correlation between the variables of municipality, city council, chamber of commerce, and other organizations and the quality of historical building maintenance. These results underscore the crucial role of urban management at various organizational levels and in collaboration with other stakeholders in elevating the maintenance quality of this invaluable heritage. Urban management holds a fundamental responsibility in preserving and enhancing the quality of historical buildings, which serve as symbols of urban identity and culture.
